Problems with to get the anesthesia to work

31. august 2009

Question:

Now I have the last several times at the dentist, where I have been stunned experienced that my body is starting to shake inside, get heart palpitations and feel tired and heavy.
They can never really stun me where I should be, maybe after 2 – 3 – 4 attempt, whereupon I saw one really bad. My dentist says it is nothing to do with the anesthesia to make. The last few times it's gone really wrong (I think)
The previous time was my whole face numbed my lip and my eye hung, I might not blink, and really just not notice half of my head.

Now here the last time, I thought just it was there, but slowly disappeared, the feeling in my throat and finally I could not swallow.
When I almost flew up out of the chair and tried to explain to my dentist, laughed at he little and said that it was the ' stunning sake.... Øhhh well...
In an hour and a half I went and spat out because I'm not ku swallowing (the times I tried to smoke it wrong and had to cough and hack it up again)

I might sound quite squeamish, but even I can hold to much.
Now I stand so here soon and need to have made a root canal, but honestly.... Has very little desire for are afraid of what happens the next time.

So maybe my question is whether there are options other than local anesthesia??
Is it possible I can not tolerate it or what is it that happens?

My dentist has a pretty good reputation, and many of my acquaintances go to the dentist there.

Greeting jeannie.

Answer:

Dear Jeannie,

Talk with your dentist about the evs. use nitrous oxide. Some times when the anesthesia does not work, it may have something with the nervousness to do, take the evs. 2 panodiler before going to the dentist, it can help you to calm down. It can also be due to infection in the area, which makes it difficult to numb the tooth.
It is very common that you feel a little heavy in the area where you will be stunned, but it is a little difficult to answer specifically on your issue.

Regarding the palpitations, then due to the epinephrine in the anesthesia, it is not dangerous. Ask the dentist next time if you do get anaesthetic without the adrenaline, it can be you get, the less the discomfort of the.

Hope you can use my answer.

Aarhus shedding 70 percent of the skoletandklinikkerne

28. august 2009
Filed in News

The great shortage of dentists, and the children's improved dental health, get now Aarhus municipality to change the current structure of the tandplejeområdet. Skoletandklinikkerne be reduced by approx. 70 percent and dentists must be in a storklinikker.

The city council of Aarhus municipality decided Wednesday evening to gather skoletandlægerne on 10-16 storklinikker, instead of the current 43 less skoleklinikker distributed on the city's 49 public schools, writes jyllands-posten. At the schools which in the future will be without a dentist, there will instead be clinics with dental hygienists and dental assistants to provide preventive dental care.

The new structure of the tandplejeområdet will be implemented over the next 10 years, and the reason is, besides the fact that it is difficult to get dentists to the municipality, to the children in Aarhus have fewer and fewer holes.

The previous structure dating back to the 1970s, where a dentist only treated 400 children and young people, where they today must take care of around 1,500 children and young people. In the 1970’s got children and young people in Aarhus in the average drilled in the five teeth per year. Today the average is small with 0.7 wells per year. The expectation is that in the future only will need 30 dentists in municipal dental care in Aarhus.

The new development on the tandplejeområdet in the municipality of Aarhus is also a consequence of the increasing tandlægemangel. And that trend goes towards fewer and larger clinics where there are more dentists working in teams. Many young dentists prefer the community they find at a clinic with several dentists.

The social democrats and the SF are skeptical about structural change
“We are in favour of the setting, but we will have a security that you place a part of the future of the dental clinics, where there is a need. They must not be added after a spredekam, but where the need is greatest,” said Steen B. Andersen (S), to the Danish newspaper jyllands-posten. Steen was so worried for the new model, that he also wanted an evaluation after the first year.

One of the greatest challenges facing the new model on the tandplejeområdet is the so-called socially disadvantaged groups, who typically get more tooth decay than their peers. They must have a positive discrimination in relation to where the future storklinikker must be placed in the municipality.

Claus Thomasbjerg (SF), said to jyllands-posten that he is concerned that the children in the future need to spend time on transport to get to the dentist.

“Many parents have to take time off at work to get their children to the dentist. It can mean that they pull tandlægebehandlingen out, until it fits with their work”, argued Claus Thomasbjerg on.

SF suggested that the soft change up, so that the larger units should be supplemented by four mobile tandlægeenheder, which can run around to the clinics.

Gert Bjerregaard from the liberal party (venstre pointed out, like For Steen B. Andersen, that the clinics should be in areas where there is the greatest need, and that there also needs to be easy access to public transport in the areas.

“So we avoid that children spend too much time on transport, and it takes time from the teaching,” said Gert Bjerregaard to jyllands-posten, and highlighted that the main objective of the new structure is that dentists need to work in larger units in order to learn from each other and gain experience.

The location and cost of the big clinics
There is yet to name the schools that will house the new storklinikker. But in Aarhus municipality's report on the new structure are the following schools are referred to as commandments in the schools, which in future will house the large clinics, Møllevangskolen, Vejlby School, Moscow School, Tovshøjskolen, Kragelundskolen and Vestergårdskolen.

The major dental clinics must have three to five tandlægehold, and the cost of establishment of a single storklinik is expected to be around 8.5 million. kr. The total cost for the new tandlægestruktur is expected to reach 100 million. kr. as well as an unknown amount in transportation costs of vulnerable children.

Question:

Question from Harald

The state grants to tandlægeregninger been reduced in the last 25 years?

Answer:

Dear Harald,

It was a very interesting question.

Sygesikringens grants for dental care varies and is, on average, 30 % of the price, which is deducted from the patient's expense. But there are many factors that come into play, among other things, collective bargaining, policy initiatives metres.v. So I am unfortunately not able to give you a clear-cut answer.

It is probably more of a statistical task, as Tandlægeforeningen might be able to help you to find out. You can get in touch with them via this website: www.tandlaegeforeningen.dk

The dentist works so uncomprehending facing my pain

20. august 2009
Filed in Pain and Anaesthesia

Question:

I think, actually, that my pain threshold is ok high – has given birth to 3 children without anesthesia and made a part of the dentist in the last few months. also without anesthetic

But av av av I have such a toothache and have had it for almost a week and a half now Trying to say to myself that it's just nonsense and now I must take me along, but it makes just as evil

I got a month and a half ago drilled two deep holes out and made a pulpaoverkapning (ie. she was trying to get the nerves to pull himself together).

In Wednesday's bored she had them so completely out – the nerves had not withdrawn as was hoped – but it all looked fine and sealed, she had them. She could not give any guarantee that it would succeed, and that in the long term could end up with a root canal – but she was VERY optimistic.

But since then I've just had an evil evil evil I was down there on Friday again and she gave me some penicillin and so she believed that she otherwise, just that it had to have something calm It all looked fine and it does not hurt when she turns on the teeth – it would apparently do, if the nerve has been damaged.

However, she tried to paint one of the teeth, since my root was very devoid

I will also say, it's been a bit better – but not violent much.

The first few days I took 2 * 600 mg. ibumetin – however, the dentist felt that if there was something wrong, had I had no need for painkillers 4 times a day.

Now settle I to take one in the morning – but it has still hurt in the evening, however, may well fall asleep for the

If I don't take the pills, ie. when I wake up in the morning ranging in the tooth and I can'T drink/eat anything cold at all – it hunts SO much in it, so the tears are rolling And even though I take one pill in the morning, “forget”, unfortunately, I to drink during the day and is so afraid of the pain (think sku I end up with to lose me here)

Feel so pylret, the dentist works so uncomprehendingly (is really really sweet, so that is not the way) to the pain

Be down there tomorrow again – but it is to get a second hole

Mvh

Henriette

Answer:

Dear Henriette

Can well understand that you are frustrated. You must make reservations for my answer, because it is a little difficult to comment on such a specific question.

The tooth must rodbehandles. When the dentist banks on the tooth, checking she on the inflammation is out in the bone. And as your symptoms are, so do I assess that it is only a matter of time. When the tooth is so hypersensitiv, the nerve has already been damaged. It is not intended that you should have hurt, but as I said, it is a little difficult to give a definite answer when I haven't seen the x-ray image or the tooth.

Hope you can use my answer.

Regionsrådsmedlem excuse the mess in the North tandlægevagt

The president of the Tandlægenævnet in the north of Jutland, Regionsrådsmedlem Marian Geller (V), report himself personally ready with an excuse for a German tourist, who at the weekend in vain tried to get treatment for a severe and acute toothache.

The German tourist who stayed in a cottage at Grønhøj Beach in north Jutland, was hit by a violent toothache in the night between Saturday and Sunday, writes Nordjyske. The tourist contacted the holiday house operator, immediately tried to contact the Tandlægevagten in north Jutlandwhich had telefontid between the hours of. 9 and 10. But in spite of the uninterrupted phone call for nearly an hour, she came never further than vagttandlægens answering machine.

Apology from Tandlægenævnets president
The unfortunate episode has now got the president of the tandlægenævnet in the north of Jutland, regionsrådsmedlem Marian Geller, who has responsibility for tandlægevagten in the Region Nordjylland, to go into the matter. “Under normal circumstances, it is not how it works in northern Jutland,” says Marian Geller to the North.dk. And announces that she is personally ready with an apology to the German tourist, who at the weekend in vain tried to get hold of tandlægevagten.

The dentist, who had the weekend's tandlægevagt in the north of Jutland, is, according to Marian Geller, even unhappy over the episode.

Technical error
Carsten Rabe Kvist, head of department at Region Nordjylland, says to the North, that there was a technical error. The dentist from the Hanstholm there had the warden at the weekend, had been coupled vagttelefonen over at its own facility, when he was admitted of conversations with people who have got toothache and want to have it sorted immediately.

The north denmark Region will now teach the technical procedures for dentists, who are in the vagtordningen, in order to avoid that history repeats itself.

Use of the pacifier after 3 years of age

13. august 2009
Filed in Children

Question:

Our daughter is still very dependent on his pacifier. And we as parents are very hard to take that comfort and needs from her. We were at the dentist for 4 months ago. As was her tandstilling fine. However, the dentist recommended that she should not use the pacifier after his 3 birthday. It is now two months ago and we believe that her sucking needs are still very large.

How important is it that we take the pacifier from her. And what are the consequences of not doing it at 3 years of age, as recommended by the dentist?

The mother of Fie

Answer:

Dear mother of Fie

We always recommend that the child stop using the pacifier at 2-3 years of age and preferably before it fills the 4 years. The older the child becomes , the harder it is to wean from the pacifier. If the child uses the pacifier over 3 years of age, it can develop an open bite (the front teeth when not one the other, there is air between), overbid (undermundstænderne stand further back than normal) or krydsbid (undermundstænderne when out of overmundstænderne in the pages). That seen in particular, tend to overbid by children who use the pacifier beyond 3 years, if the child develops a tungeuvane, this can overbid to deteriorate.
You must take up the fight. Here is some advice for how. In may possibly. deliver sutterne to the dentist, sometimes they have a “Suttetræ” or branch they are hanging them up, possibly. can i “send” the pacifier to santa claus or another baby who needs them:) You can also let the be with to take the pacifier from the child and instead make the less attractive, by cutting the tip of it, together with the child. This can then continue with, once a week, until there is only the shaft left. Try evs. to lubricate the go nail.

Complaint against the dentist or dental treatment

Private practice dentists in Denmark has approx. 8 million. patientkontakter annually. And the vast majority of dental treatments carried out without problems. In some cases there arises, however, problems, which the patient then may have a wish to complain about.

Try to solve the problem with the dentist first
It is a very good idea to try to talk with the dentist about the problem, before you decide to complain. Many of the problems can be resolved in an amicable way in the community, and the solution is the most preferable for both parties. It is in no way a requirement, that one must first try to resolve the issue with the dentist. But it is a good option, as you should test in the first place.

The difference between professional and non-professional
Instead of professional malpractice, there may also be disagreement between the dentist and the patient, whether it was the agreed treatment was carried out, arise disagreement about the price of the treatment, or in any other way arise a dispute between a dentist and a patient who did not have any with the professional treatment to make.

This guide deals primarily with the circumstances in which a patient wishes to make a complaint about the professional part of the treatment from a dentist.

Difference between public servant and private practice dentist
It can in worst case be a very distressing affair, if a dentist has treated you wrong. Not least for the wallet, as there is generally not any guarantee for the work you've got done at the dentist.
But where should you go if you are of the opinion that the dentist has a model you? It depends in the first place, whether you have received treatment by a private practice dentist, or the dentist is public servant.

Complain about public dentists
If you feel a model of a dentist at a public clinic, or a hospital, then you must within two years, send a written complaint to the Health service Patientklagenævn.
It applies to all complaints of public servants, dentists, dental hygienists, dental technicians, and dentists who have not entered into an agreement with the Regions, Wage - and Takstnævn (ex. The health insurance).

At Patientklagenævnet you get a consumer complaint form that you must complete. You can read more about on the Patientklagenævnets website.

On this page you will find all the necessary contact information, if you will a complaint about a dental treatment.

If you are under 18 years of age
Are you under the age of 18 years, you must always complain to the Health Patientklagenævn. Here you get a consumer complaint form provided, that you must complete. You can read more on Patientklagenævnets website.

Here you will find relevant contact information in connection with the complaints against dentists, dental hygienists or dental technicians.

Complaint about private dentist
If you have a complaint about a private dentist, hygienist, or dental technician, who has an agreement with the Regional Wage and Takstnævn (ex. The health insurance), you can follow this guide which provide information on the klageforløbet.

The complaint must be sent to the region
Do you want to complain about a private dentist, you should submit your complaint to the region you live in. You can also send your complaint to the health service in your municipality, or your dentist's kredsforening. But no matter which of the above options you use, your complaint will be forwarded to the region you live in, as the complaint proceedings are administered by the regions.

It is free to complain about the dentist
It costs nothing to complaint about a private dentist. And there is also no lower limit for the amount, the complaint shall apply.

You must pay for the treatment, even if you complain
The appeal has no bearing on your obligation for the treatment. Payment may, however, require deposited in the region before the complaint is processed.

Complaint
There is a difference on the complaint by the complaints of the professional treatment, and complaints about other matters. If there is talk on other matters than the professional part of the treatment. It may, for example. be, if you believe that you have got a treatment or service you have requested or to the price of the treatment is different from the agreed price with the dentist. So you have a deadline of six weeks after you have become familiar with the relationship.

For the professional part of the treatment, which applies both to the study as the treatment, you have a deadline of two years after that you are – or should be – aware of the problem. The complaint shall also be filed no later than five years after the day on which the klageforholdet took place.

What the complaint should contain
The complaint must be in writing and dated. Thus, there is no doubt about what you are complaining about, and when you complain. In addition, should your complaint include the following information:

The dentist who complained of;
what is complained of;
when it is gone;
what in your opinion is agreed (if there is a violation of this agreement);
what you want to achieve with the complaint

In order to achieve a faster processing, you should also enclose a copy of the bills and other relevant information about the dental treatment you are complaining about.

Many of the regions have a form for use in appeals. So you should first contact your region for further information, or if you want help and guidance to formulate the complaint.

The complaint will be dealt with in the region
The complaint will be dealt with in the region, where the dentist, as your complaint include, clinic. As the first your complaint will be dealt with by a Visitationsudvalg, which assesses what type of complaint it is. The committee can choose to reject the complaint, with the same as unfounded, but usually, the committee will only pre-treat the complaint and forward it to Tandlægenævnet or the works council in the region you belong to. It depends on what you are complaining about:

1) If your complaint deals solely with matters other than the academic part of the treatment, it is the works council in your region, hearing the case on.

2) Deal with your complaint the dental treatment alone or both the dental treatment and other facts, it is Regionstandlægenævnet, who deals with the complaint on.
Regionstandlægenævnet decreases as a committee to carry out surveys and estimates of the professional in-office work. In connection with this vision, and the discretion can the dentist, you are complaining about being summoned to identify his work. The dentist does not have the right to participate in the actual assessment of the work.

Appeal
Reject Visitationsudvalget your complaint, you can appeal this decision directly to the works council in your region. You must do this within six weeks after the decision is taken.

You can also appeal against a decision from both Regionstandlægenævnet and the works council in your region within this six week period. It must be made to the Landstandlægenævnet or Landssamarbejdsudvalget, depending on how your complaint was dealt with in the first place.

All of the boards and committees that get with your complaint to make, is composed of an equal number of tandlægekonsulenter from the region and representatives from the regional council. The appeal body Landstandlægenævnet also has a high court judge as chairman.

Compensation for malpractice
Tandlægenævnet in your region and Landstandlægenævnet can decide on a dental practitioner must pay an amount of coverage that a dental treatment is being made on the new. Nævnene can not, however, impose the dentist's liability for the following:

– Increase in expenses as a result of an injury
– Loss of earnings
– Permanent injury, pain or pain
– Other expenses incurred as a result of an injury

If you want compensation for one or more of these cases, you must contact the Tandlægeforeningens Patientforsikring, which covers behandlingsskader according to the same guidelines as for the hospitals.

Read the evs. more about compensation for the dental treatment

You have, of course, also the possibility of bringing a civil action is brought against the dentist by the court. In such a case should seek the guidance and help of a lawyer.

Complaints about foreign dentists and dental procedures
You will be a model of a dentist in Denmark, you are covered by the Danish complaints system, and have the opportunity to get compensation from the Danish patientforsikring. It is not you, if you choose to receive dental treatment abroad. So you will hear instead, under that country's rules on the area. Here you should be aware that klagereglerne and compensation can vary widely from country to country. In the worst case you risk to be completely without any form of cover, if there is an error or damage in connection with a treatment, or if you are dissatisfied with the quality of the treatment.

General anesthesia from dental phobia

Question:

I suffer from dental phobia. But may not postpone the dentist visit any longer. Can I get treatment under general anesthesia?

Mille

Answer:

Dear Mille

It is the absolute last resort when you choose to put a patient in the general anesthesia. There are other forms of treatment of dental phobia, blah. hypnosis, acupuncture or premedication with a sedative before each treatment. There are certain dental clinics around the country that offer general anesthesia. Of course it would be best for you in the future to be treated by a private dentist without a general anesthesia, so try and talk with your dentist about what it is you're so afraid of.
I am sending a few examples and telephone no. to dentists who offer general anaesthetic. Since I don't know where in the country you are located, I will send you a few you can contact:

Acid injuries especially prevalent among teenage boys

6. august 2009
Filed in News

Every third 16-year-old boy in the city of Frederiksberg has acid injuries of the teeth, which means the etching of the tooth enamel. Cola, soda and other soft drinks are supposed to be the main reason for syreskaderne – in the specialised language called erosions. The result comes from a study carried out by Frederiksberg Municipality's Dentistry, and, as presented in the Tandlægebladet.

In general, have more than one seventh of the 12-to 17-year-olds in the city of Frederiksberg acid injuries to the teeth. The problem is most often seen among boys, and the damage gets worse, the older you get.

In Tandlægebladet presents overtandlæge Lene Esmark from Frederiksberg and the Municipality of Dentistry the results of a survey of the scope and severity of erosions among 2.151 of the municipality's children and young people in the 12-17 years of age.

According to the survey, 313 of the young people, equivalent to 14.6 per cent. at least one tooth with acid injuries. Five have so severe damage to large areas at minimum one tooth is completely without enamel.

In all age groups is the prevalence of acid injuries highest among the boys, especially in the 15-to 16-years of age. Among the 16-year-olds, for example, has at 7.6 per cent. of the girls, acid injuries, while the same is true for the whole of 32,8 per cent. of the boys. The big gender difference is offset a bit after 16-years of age, but the problem is still most prevalent among the boys. The five persons with the most serious type of erosions are also all boys.

In general, it can be seen that the problem with acid injuries increases with age. The older the adolescents become, the more frequent is the occurrence of acid injuries, as the severity of the damage also increases.

Frederiksberg Municipality's Dental care will now continue to develop targeted prevention programmes in the form of guidance and enlightenment. Efforts must be directed particularly against the boys and should already be implemented from the age of 12 years.
